Meeting with Türkiye partner
On 23 May, the Challenges Forum Director Pernilla Rydén met with the recently appointed Ambassador Hasan Ulusoy, Chairman of the Centre for Strategic Studies (SAM) in Türkiye.
The meeting offered fruitful discussions around the Challenges Forum’s main focus and activities, including the contribution to the New Agenda for Peace and upcoming events such as the Annual Forum and the series of research briefs that Challenges Forum is publishing together with FBA and the Swedish Defence University
SAM emphasized its intention to strengthen its engagement, and for Türkiye to collaborate even more closely within the Challenges partnership henceforth.
Türkiye is a valued member of the Challenges Forum partnership, with their members Center for Strategic Research, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Armed Forces and National Police.. The partner hosted the Challenges Annual Forum CAF 2017 in Istanbul, which a focus on ‘Considerations for Mission Leadership in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations’. In 2006, Türkiye enabled the inclusion of Challenges research findings in the report of the UN Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations as well as hosted a Challenges Forum seminar “Challenges of Change: The Nature of Peace Operations in the 21st Century and the Continuing Need for Reform’” in 2003.
