Challenges Forum Dialogues at the Peace Operations Review Week in New York

In November, the Peace Operations Review Week brought together leading experts, diplomats, and practitioners in New York to support the Review on the Future of All Forms of Peace Operations. Co-organised by the Challenges Forum, the Effectiveness of Peace Operations Network (EPON), the Global Alliance for Peace Operations, and partners, the week featured workshops and discussions hosted by nearly 30 organisations, highlighting the key issues shaping today’s peace operations.

The opening event, hosted by the Permanent Missions of Sweden and Ghana to the United Nations, saw the Challenges Forum International Secretariat and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) launch the key takeaways from the Challenges Annual Forum 2025. More than 120 participants from Member States, the United Nations system, academia, and civil society attended, with ambassadors from Sweden, Ghana, and Denmark delivering remarks—Denmark speaking on behalf of the Peace Operations Trio, including Pakistan and Republic of Korea, on the Security Council.

During the week, the Challenges Forum also co-hosted a dedicated discussion on United Nations policing and the future of peace operations together with the International Peace Institute, the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations, the Swedish Police Authority, the Centre for International Peace Operations, and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
