The Art of the Possible: Peace Operations Under New Conditions – A Dialogue with the Field Community

On 29-30 April 2013 the Challenges Forum conducted a practitioners and research workshop on the theme “The Art of the Possible: Peace Operations Under New Conditions – A Dialogue with the Field Community”. The workshop was co-hosted by the Swedish Armed Forces and the United Service Institution of India and took place at the UN Regional Service Centre Entebbe, Uganda.

The workshop was part of the Challenges Forum’s work strand on Future Concepts and Models of Peace Operations and focused on four key issues: a) effective coordination between the UN and regional actors (with a primary focus on operational/support issues) b) authority, command and control; c) new threats and actors (e.g.: transnational organized crime, terrorism, etc.); and d) the role of modern technology and new media.
