Human Rights and Gender Issues in Peacekeeping
The Pearson Centre (PC), Cornwallis, Canada, hosted the eighth seminar in the series between 28 May – 1 June 2001 on the theme “Human Rights and Gender Issues in Peacekeeping”.
The seminar topics were Human Rights and Gender Issues in Peacekeeping, the latter of the two as suggested by the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations Training and Evaluation Service. Case studies informing the seminar included the operations conducted in Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kosovo and East Timor.
The seminar ran parallel with a visit to the PPC by the Military and Police Advisors based in New York. The two groups had one joint afternoon session discussing Humanitarian Interventions.
